Highly Anticipated 2015 Subaru Legacy Gets Great Reviews

“Live, love, laugh, leave a legacy.”
 - A quote from author and professional speaker, Stephen Covey

We believe this quote sums up Subaru of America's philosophy to a tee. Subaru owners are known for living life to the fullest and love to share their interests with others. Subaru is a company that celebrates life everyday - you only have to look at their Subaru Badges to find each Subaru driver's favorite lifestyle and hobby.

What's life without love? The second word in Covey's quote aligns so well with Subaru's philosophy, it shares a reciprocal feeling in Subaru's slogan, Love, It's What Makes A Subaru, A Subaru. And who can't resist a good laugh at Subaru's commercials following the four-legged, sedan-driving Barkley family? And then there's Legacy. That last word Covey mentions. What is a legacy? Legacy can be described as something that has been handed down from one generation to the next. Well, Subaru has that covered as well.

The Subaru Legacy was first introduced in 1989. While the midsize-sedan may not be Subaru's highest selling model (well behind Subaru's SUV & CUV line-up; the Subaru Outback, SubaruForester, and Subaru XV Crosstrek), the Subaru Legacy has been a major staple in Subaru's portfolio for more than a  quarter century - with great success we might add. 96% of Legacy models sold in the past 10 years are still on the road!

2015 Subaru Legacy

If you follow our blog, then you may be aware that we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the 2015 Subaru Legacy. The 2015 Legacy will mark the sixth generation of the car. The Legacy has been completely redesigned and offers a compelling blend of standout design, interior refinement, safety technology and higher fuel efficiency.

If we could, we would love to give the engineers over at Subaru a fist bump. Because, while we might not have the Legacy yet at our Broken Arrow dealership, several industry leading vehicle review critics have had the opportunity of test driving the midsized sedan. And the consensus is coming in as expected - high praises all.

KBB - "The Legacy has always earned accolades for its sophisticated all-wheel-drive system, but now it's hardly a one-trick pony -- it's a real contender among midsize sedans." [1]

Autoblog.com - "....those would-be Camry buyers with a taste for something a little more unique will end up owning what we consider to be a better overall car." [2]

Autoweek - "Smooth, capable and fairly quick in 3.6-liter trim, the Legacy is now as mainstream as the rest of the midsize-sedan segment. Bundle that with the famous Subaru all-wheel drive and decent fuel economy, and the Legacy now has a chance to expand past its Northwest and New England enclaves." [3]

2015 Subaru Legacy

The 2015 Subaru Legacy will come in 4 trim levels. The 2015 Legacy 2.5i with an MSRP price at $21,695, the 2015 Legacy 2.5i Premium with an MSRP price at $23,495, the 2015 Legacy 2.5i Limited with an MSRP price at $26,495, and the flagship of the sedan line-up, the 2015 Legacy 3.6R Limited with a MSRP price starting at $29,595.

Models with the 4-cylinder engine are estimated to get up to 36 mpg, while the 6-cylinder models have an EPA estimated 29 mpg.

The 2015 Subaru Legacy 2.5i comes standard with Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with manual mode and paddle shift control switches and Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. The 2.5 liter Boxer engine has increased to 175 horsepower.

The Legacy 2.5i Premium offers the industry’s leading driver assist technology, Subaru Eyesight®, and also adds Blind Spot Detection (BSD) with Lane Change Assist (LCA.) It uses radar detection to assist the driver by detecting vehicles on either side of the vehicle that may be in the driver’s blind spots.

The new Subaru Legacy will be built at the Subaru of Indiana Automotive Plant in Lafayette, Indiana . The Indiana assembly plant uses an environmentally-friendly plant process and is recognized as a zero landfill facility. It's the only U.S. automotive plant designated as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation.

Subaru Launch Control | Subaru Rally America

Rally, not to be mistaken with Rallycross, is a sport that dates back to 1911. It's a sport that combines the fastest, most high-tech sports cars with the most dare-devil, highly-trained professional drivers and throws them on the most parallel of courses. Rally stages vary from asphalt mountain passes to rough forest tracks, from ice and snow to desert sand. Rallycross, on the other hand, races on a closed mixed-surface racing circuit.

Subaru Rally Driver, David Higgins, at Sno*Drift
The top rally team in America is Subaru Rally Team USA. Subaru Rally Team USA has won three Rally American Championships in a row, including the 2013 Championship. Winning just one rally Championship is a major feat-in-and-of itself. A feat that takes a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. There are a lot of races in one rally season, each one pushing the drivers to their limits and testing their car's performance and reliability. Behind the excitement of the races, there's a lot that goes into making a championship rally team. Thanks to Subaru's web series, Launch Control, rally fans can get a behind-the-scenes look at what makes Subaru's rally team's success possible.

Last season pushed the Subaru team to the limits. Driving, David Higgins, and co-driver, Craig Drew overcame personal injuries, mechanic break-downs, and stiff competition for the hardest fought victory of their career. Top spot during the season was neck-and-neck going into the championship race. The decisive victory came down to the last day, down to the last few hours. If you missed the first season's episodes, you can check out season 1 of Launch Control here.

Now, Higgins and the Subaru rally crew are back at work. The 2014 American Rally season is under way. Season two of launch control has already been full of surprises and held no shortage of rally action. Higgins has already claimed victory at the opening round, and Travis Pastrana has rejoined the Subaru rally team after a stint in NASCAR. You can watch as Pastrana, Higgins and the rest of the Subaru rally crew compete to make rally history, in season 2 of launch control. You can watch every episode as they are released at Ferguson Subaru.com.

The vehicle that helped Subaru Rally win 3 consecutive championships, the Subaru WRX STi, has proven its performance and reliability. Launch Control viewers will soon be able to see the next evolution of the Subaru Rally and Subaru Rallycross car.
The 2015 Subaru WRX STi will soon replace the 2014 WRX STi.

2015 Rallycross WRX STi was debuted at the 2014 New York Auto Show.

The 2015 Rallycross STI was prepared by Vermont SportsCar, home of Subaru Rally Team USA. External design cues include a custom widebody, an STI wing integrated with carbon fiber aerodynamic enhancements, and a classic rally car-style roof ventilation scoop. The 2015 Rallycross STI will feature a 600HP turbocharged Subaru boxer engine mated to a sequential gearbox with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. The 2015 Rallycross STI will also feature an advanced rally-spec suspension. The car rides on Method Race Wheels, wrapped with the new Yokohama GRC spec competition tire.

The 2015 Subaru WRX and WRX STi were both recently awarded an Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) 2014 TOP SAFETY PICK award for good performance in each of the Institute’s crashworthiness evaluations, including the small overlap front test.
