2015 Subaru Outback Released

Subaru claims the Outback is the world's first sport/utility wagon. It's grown to become the vehicle-of-choice for adventure-loving, trail climbing, nature-packing, outdoor enthusiast. It's been the best-selling All-Wheel Drive car in America for the past five years. And if, love is what makes a Subaru, a Subaru; then the tradition of the Subaru Outback has truly left its heart-felt mark on American drivers. But, as the famous author Pearl S. Buck wrote, "Love dies only when growth stops." Subaru has just given us more to love with release of the new-generation Outback. The '15 Subaru Outback was recently during the 2014 Subaru New York Auto Show.

The original Outback established a template for many competitive crossover models that followed, and the new-generation 2015 Outback exemplifies Subaru’s mastery of outdoors-oriented vehicle engineering and further strengthens the melding of passenger- car and SUV attributes that crossover shoppers seek.

The all-new Outback was designed from the ground-up to enable adventures and spark spontaneity. The new 2015 Subaru Outback allows drivers to go even bigger, climb even steeper, and roam even farther! Its bold new design delivers an even more compelling blend of on-road agility, off-pavement control, ride comfort, interior refinement and safety technology.

Some of the redesigned features on the new 2015 Subaru Outback include:

  • A completely redesigned, slightly larger chassis, exterior and interior design (most roomiest Outback ever)
  • More sporty, more sleek, off-road ability and look
  • A new front fascia that combines the hexagonal grille and bumper into one smooth piece
  • Hawk-eye LED head lights and tail lights
  • A thinner underbelly cladding that creates a sleeker look, but still prevents paint chipping when going off-road
  • A steeper windshield and a slimmer A-pillar to aerodynamics and increase fuel efficiency
  • An all-new, surprisingly spacious 143.6 cubic foot interior with upgraded materials for passenger comfort
  • A new retractable roof cross bars and new tie-downs that now slide back and forth, to accommodate larger and smaller items including bikes, canoes, and kayaks
  • Improved fuel economy at the top of AWD crossover class with estimated ratings of 25 mpg city / 33 mpg highway for Outback 2.5i
  • Lineartronic CVT now standard on all models
  • New available Rear Vehicle Detection System featuring Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert

Two other features worth noting on the new Subaru Outback include: enhanced capability on the Outback's legendary Subaru Standard Symmetrical All-Wheel with X-Mode, and newly enhanced Safety features with Subaru's Eyesight.

Standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive gives you exceptional traction in any environment or road condition. X-Mode with Hill Descent Control can be activated with the push of a button. It takes control of the AWD, transmission, engine, brakes, and other components to help safely navigate steep inclines and slippery surfaces to take your adventure that much further. The 2015 Outback's four-cylinder, 2.5-liter BOXER engine (or 3.6-liter, six-cylinder on the Limited model) increases power slightly from its predecessor, 175 hp vs. 173 hp as before.

The 2015 Outback offers the latest version of the EyeSight driver-assist system with an improved camera. Available for Outback Premium and Limited trim lines, EyeSight uses Subaru-developed stereo camera technology and integrates Vehicle Lane Departure Warning, Pre-Collision Braking, and Adaptive Cruise Control. Subaru's Eyesight was the highest-rated front crash prevention system by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
