Ferguson Subaru Donates to the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma

Ferguson Subaru is donating $22,500 to the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, in an effort to eliminate hunger in Oklahoma.

For 40 years, the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma has been fighting hunger, and feeding hope. The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma was founded in 1981 by Dan Allen. The food bank has grown to become the largest private hunger-relief organization in eastern Oklahoma; serving 350 Partner Agencies throughout the 24 counties of eastern Oklahoma.

When the COVID-19 pandemic first hit, Ferguson Subaru stepped in and joined Subaru of America to help donate 50 million meals to Feeding America, and in-turn, to millions of Americans who cannot access food for themselves or their families.

After the initial 50 million meal commitment, Subaru of America and Ferguson Subaru doubled down and committed to making an additional 100 million meal donation. Ferguson Subaru's donation of $22,500, to the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, is one result this second commitment.

Ferguson Subaru is proud to be a part of Subaru of America's Feeding America COVID-19 initiative. We're honored to have the opportunity to make a donation to the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. It's all part of our Subaru Love Promise. The Subaru Love Promise is our vision of respecting all people. This is our commitment to show love and respect to our customers and to work to make a positive impact in the world.

Ferguson Subaru Continues Partnership with Feeding America

January 22, 2021, Broken Arrow, OK – Right now, millions of Americans are out of work and cannot access food for themselves or their families. As the effects of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic continues to hit our Tulsa Metro community, Ferguson Subaru will again work with Feeding America® as part of the larger Subaru of America, Inc. initiative to provide an additional 100 million meals* to people hit hardest by the crisis.

When the pandemic first hit, Ferguson Subaru stepped in and joined Subaru of America to help donate 50 million meals, and the automaker is doing it again as the hunger crisis continues. That is why Subaru and its retailers across the country (including Ferguson Subaru) are doubling down with the donation of an additional 100 million meals to Feeding America.

Ferguson Subaru will again work alongside Subaru of America and the Feeding America network to ensure food banks can secure the resources they need to help the most vulnerable members of our community. Ferguson Subaru is proud to help provide 210,830 meals through Feeding America to support the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. Plus, Ferguson Subaru is donating an additional 15,000 meals to the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. In total, Ferguson Subaru is helping to provide 225,830 meals to the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.

Our hope is that these meals will provide immediate and crucial assistance to families and individuals, in our community, that are still in need during these uncertain times. It’s all part of our Subaru Love Promise…an ongoing commitment to our community. We are proud to call Northeast Oklahoma our home, and we’re determined to be there when our community needs us most. Subaru Sponsors of "Parks and Recreation Reunion Special," a charitable telecast

Back in April, Subaru of America announced they, along with the Subaru network of 633 retailers nationwide, will continue their commitment to supporting people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic by helping to provide 50 million meals to Feeding America®. Now, Subaru of America has furthered their support to Feeding America®, by sponsoring NBC and Universal Television’s charitable telecast “A Parks and Recreation Special,” and will match consumer donations, up to $150,000, to benefit Feeding America®’s COVID-19 Response Fund.

Matching donations from State Farm®, NBCUniversal and the writers, producers and cast of “Parks and Recreation,” a combined total of $500,000 in matching donations, will be made through May 21. Funds raised from the telecast will go directly to Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund, allowing food banks to secure the resources they need to serve those most effected by the virus. "A Parks and Recreation Special” is set to air Thursday, April 30 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT.

Subaru’s sponsorship of the “Parks and Recreation” special follows its significant partnership with Feeding America to help provide 50 million meals to people most impacted by COVID-19. As the nation's largest domestic hunger-relief organization with a nationwide network of 200-member food banks, the automaker, along with its retailers, is providing crucial assistance to help communities hit hardest by the pandemic get back on their feet.

Ferguson Subaru Partners with Guide Dogs For The Blind

Guide Dogs For The Blind is an organization that according to their vision statement, "envisions a world with greater inclusion, opportunity and independence by optimizing the unique capabilities of people and dogs."

The organization was founded shortly after WWII, when the company's founder saw the need for aid to wounded veterans who returned from the war; veterans who were now blind or visually impaired. Through their exceptional breeding, puppy raising and training programs they quickly began to grow, and soon spread Guide Dogs For The Blind branches across the country. One of those branches was Lone Star Guide Dog Raisers.

Lone Star Guide Dog Raisers, based out of Texas, began with only six guide dog puppies and now has 186 dogs in training! The organization is made of volunteers who are all dedicated to raising their dogs and facilitating life-changing opportunities for the visually impaired.

The abilities Lone Star guide dogs possess (especially after their training is complete) is simply amazing. The dogs can detect changes in their owner's blood sugar and alert them well before any harmful symptoms arise; simply by smell. It takes 12 to 14 weeks to fully train their dogs.

During the Subaru Share the Love Event, Ferguson Subaru (and Subaru dealers across the country) donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased. New Subaru owner have a choice for that $250 donation to go to one of six charities. For Ferguson Subaru customers, Lone Stare Guide Dog Raisers is one of those six charities.

Last year, through the Share the Love campaign, Ferguson Subaru helped raise nearly $13,000 for Lone Star Guide Dog Raisers. Sandy Alsworth, Community Field Rep. for Lone Star Guide Dog Raisers, said that money went to transportation needs, breeding and medical equipment.

The Subaru Share The Love fundraising campaign is once again around the corner, and Ferguson Subaru is proud to renounce our renewed partnership with Lone Star Guide Dog Raisers. Several volunteers and "puppies in training" drove up from Texas, to our Broken Arrow Subaru dealer in preparation for the campaign. Ferguson Subaru owner, Jerry Ferguson, presented a check of $6,145 to launch the campaign!
