Ferguson Subaru and Subaru of America Donate Over $12,000 to Guide Dogs For the Blind

Subaru of America has helped support nearly 300 animal shelters, grant more than 600 wishes, fund over one million meal deliveries to seniors, and helped support over 70 national parks through the Subaru Share the Love Event.

The Subaru Share the Love Event - held each year between November and January - makes it possible for new Subaru owners, Subaru of America and Subaru dealers across the country (like Ferguson Subaru) to share the love with charities in our own backyard; one meal, one wish, one pet, and one park at a time. The Subaru Share the Love Event reflects Ferguson Subaru's commitment to improving our community.

During the Subaru Share the Love Event, Subaru donates $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased to the customer's choice of the following charities: ASPCA®, Make-A-Wish®, Meals On Wheels Association of America®, National Park Foundation and Teach for America. In addition to the five national organizations, Subaru retailers have the opportunity to add a sixth local charity for customers to support.

Ferguson Subaru chose to partner with Guide Dogs for the Blind for the 2015 Subaru Share the Love Event. Thanks to our new Subaru customers, who came from all over Oklahoma and beyond, we were able to raise $12,864 to be donated to Guide Dogs for the Blind!

Guide Dogs for the Blind empowers lives through exceptional partnerships between people, dogs and communities. Guide Dogs for the Blind envisions a world with greater inclusion, opportunity and independence, by optimizing the unique capabilities of people and dogs. Guide Dogs and K9 Buddy Dogs for visually impaired youngsters are provided at no cost to those requesting them, through support from people like you. Lone Star Guide Dog Raisers is a group of volunteers who raise puppies in their homes to become future service dogs. Right now there are 33 graduates who have a guide dog from Guide Dogs for the Blind who live in Oklahoma!
With the help of new Subaru owners, Subaru of America has donated over $50 million since the start of the Subaru Share the Love Event seven years ago. When you take home a new Subaru during the Subaru Share the Love Event you automatically become a part of the good we're doing together.

Ferguson Subaru would love to see the success of the Subaru Share the Love Event continue!

Stay in touch with Ferguson Subaru to find out when the next Subaru Share the Love Event comes back around and together we'll help improve our community and donate to a worthy cause, one Subaru at a time!

If you can't wait until the next Subaru Share the Love Event to get behind the wheel of a new Subaru ( we know it's hard ) you can always visit our Broken Arrow Subaru dealership and speak to one of our friendly Subaru Sales Consultants. Or visit us online at www.FergusonSubaru.com!

Ad Astra Per Aspera: Subaru Helps Future Space Exploration

During the 1950's and 1960's the United States and the former Soviet Union were in a heated competition to land the first human on the moon. This time period is called the first Space Race. Now, in the 21st century, there's an argument that we're in the second Space Race. There's been an increase in space technology development from countries such as China, India, the European Union, and Japan.

Engineers and scientists are continuing to develop technologies that lead to more discoveries about the cosmos; discoveries that may help answer questions about the formation of the planets and stars. There's no telling what new discoveries await us in the future. But, all that knowledge can be lost, if a focus is not placed on fostering the next generation of engineers and scientist to carry on the research. Luckily, some of the world's most successful companies have come together to make sure we continue to inspire and educate our next generation of space leaders, and one of those companies is Subaru.

Subaru recognizes the importance of education, and especially STEM (science technology engineering math) education, in helping to prepare and inspire our youth to become the next generation of business, science, community, technology, and education leaders. To help the scientists, astronauts and engineers of tomorrow, Subaru announced its continued partnership with the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP).

The Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP) is a program of the National Center for Earth and Space Science Education (NCESSE) in Washington, D.C. One of the core goals of the SSEP program is to inspire and engage America's next generation of scientist and engineers. SSEP immerses students, from across the country, ranging from 5th grade all the way up to college, in science experiments that will actually be developed and implemented on the International Space Station.

Through the partnership, Subaru will donate $50,000 to the program to support schools in communities across the country that are in need of funding to participate in this education initiative. Subaru has to date made possible SSEP participation by 9 communities across the U.S. This corresponds to 3,090 students that were engaged in experiment design due to Subaru’s commitment, and 741 proposals received from student teams.

It's only fitting that Subaru (a company that embraces a culture that includes empowerment, innovation, and continual learning) cares about the protection of space exploration and the development of tomorrow's scientist and engineers. Subaru, after all owes its name from Pleiades, a star cluster in the Taurus constellation.

Subaru believes that engaging students in unique learning opportunities, such as this model initiative, are important in bringing STEM education to life. Subaru is proud to be a national partner of the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program.

Ferguson Subaru at the Tulsa Women's Expo

Tulsa would not be the city it is today without the contributions of strong women in the community. There's been a longstanding presence of empowering women in Tulsa who have shaped and developed Oklahoma’s second largest city. Tulsa Historical Society & Museum notes the importance of women have played in Tulsa's history noting, "In those first few decades of Tulsa, women established schools, cultural organizations, and civic groups that changed the landscape of Tulsa both then and now." [1]

Today, Tulsa offers many opportunities for women. There are many great career opportunities in Tulsa; in fact many businesses in Tulsa were founded by women. The city also hosts a number of events dedicated specifically for women. One of those events is the annual Tulsa Women’s Living Expo.

The Tulsa Women's Living Expo is all about community and connection. The goal of the Tulsa Women's Expo is to enrich the lives of today's women and their families. To show our support and gratitude for the women in our community, Ferguson Subaru was pleased to be a sponsor of this year’s Tulsa Women’s Expo. We have several wonderful ladies on the Ferguson Subaru Team. Two of those stellar team-members include Nancy Erickson and Hannah Chaboya. Nancy and Hannah were at the Ferguson Subaru booth during this year’s Tulsa Women’s Expo.

Nancy and Hannah at the Tulsa Women's Expo

Located next to the Pure Romance Love Your Lifestyle Stage, our Subaru booth featured two new Subaru models, the 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid, and the 2015 Subaru Forester. Ferguson Subaru was honored to sponsor Tony Dovolani’s appearance at the Tulsa Women’s Expo. Fans of the show might recognize Tony from his dancing skills. He’s starred in nearly 20 season of the ABC hit show. Ferguson Subaru was proud to be able to help bring Tony to Green Country and the great city of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Of course, our team members had to meet him.

Ferguson is continuing to support women in our community after the Tulsa Women’s Expo.

One organization in our community founded by a strong Tulsa lady is the cancer fighting organization known as Turn Tulsa Pink. According to the Turn Tulsa Pink website the mission of Turn Tulsa Pink is as follows, “To bring to light the local grassroots charities that provide services and support to all people affected by cancer in our communities. We Believe Charity Begins at Home.” [2]

Judi Grove created Turn Tulsa Pink in 2011. Ferguson as partnered with Judi and Turn Tulsa Pink to help raise donations that benefit cancer patients in our community. During the Turn Ferguson Pink Event, Ferguson Buick GMC will donate $200 for every new vehicle sold until February 28th. Subaru announces 2015 XV Crosstrek Special Edition

Tulsa is a city known for its breathtaking views, rich architecture and natural beauty. Part of Tulsa's natural beauty is the array of colors the city has to offer. Just look at historical locations in downtown Tulsa. There's the Blue Dome District and the Guthrie Green. Tulsa is a city full of color.

Ferguson Subaru hopes to brighten up the streets of Tulsa with something new. A new special edition Sunrise Yellow XV Crosstrek. Subaru announced the introduction of a special edition 2015 XV Crosstrek in Sunrise Yellow.

The versatile, fun-to-drive XV Crosstrek combines bold five-door design, a highly capable chassis, best-in-class fuel economy and in-demand multimedia features. It is one of the most fuel-efficient all-wheel-drive crossover utility vehicles in America, delivering 34-mpg EPA-estimated highway fuel economy.

The special edition 2015 XV Crosstrek adds one more vibrant color to choose from in the gamut of XV Crosstrek exterior paint color options. The 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek can be purchased in Plasma Green, Tangerine Orange, Quartz Blue, Venetian Red, and now with the special edition Crosstrek in Sunrise Yellow.

The Subaru XV Crosstrek looks the part of a rugged crossover and backs up its appearance with proven Subaru capability. ALL SUBARU MODELS RECEIVE IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK (TSP) FOR 2015

Subaru has become synonymous with the word safety. Why you might ask? Maybe it’s Subaru’s patented Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, maybe it’s Subaru’s innovative Eyesight feature, or maybe it’s because Subaru vehicles keep taking home the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s “Top Safety Pick” and “Top Safety Pick+” awards.

During the latest rounds of testing, ALL SUBARU MODELS RECEIVE IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK (TSP) FOR 2015.

All Subaru models, including the Subaru Impreza, Subaru Outback, Subaru Legacy, Subaru BRZ, Subaru XV Crosstrek, and Subaru Forester.

Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+) is the highest standard of safety the Institute can award. Earning the award for every Subaru in their vehicle line-up is quite impressive; however, this is not the only year Subaru’s earned the top safety pick for every model in their line-up. In fact, Subaru is the only manufacturer with IIHS Top Safety Picks FOR ALL MODELS SIX YEARS RUNNING!

What’s more impressive is Subaru continues their safety streak, despite stricter qualifications. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has upped their standards for their Top Safety Pick and last year added a fifth test to the curriculum, the small overlap front test.

To win 2015 Top Safety Pick, a vehicle must have “Good” ratings in all four tests of high-speed front and side crash tests, a rollover test, and evaluations of seat/head restraints for protection against neck injuries in rear impacts. In addition, “Good” or “Acceptable” performance in a small overlap front test introduced in 2012 is also required. The same level of performance in those tests, along with an “Advanced” or “Superior” rating for front crash prevention, is required for the higher accolade, 2015 Top Safety Pick+.

Much like any test, some succeed while others fail. You could consider Subaru than an over-achiever.  Time and time again, Subaru models have been recognized for their safety features, like Subaru’s patented Subaru Eyesight.

Five of the seven vehicles also earn 2015 Top Safety Pick+ status; Subaru Forester, Legacy, Outback, Impreza, and XV Crosstrek, when equipped with optional EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology.

Subaru EyeSight is an automated braking system. Subaru Eyesight is the highest rated front crash prevention system currently on the market. Subaru Eyesight technology is available in the Outback, Legacy, and Forester models.  Learn more about Subaru Eyesight here.

Many of these Top Safety Pick+ vehicles are available in our new car inventory.
