5th Annual Bark Walk

According to The Humane Society of the United States, "An estimated 2.7 million healthy shelter pets are not adopted each year, and only about 30 percent of pets in homes come from shelters or rescues." [1]

We love our pets here at Ferguson Subaru. Both our Subaru showroom and Subaru service department are pet-friendly facilities. Being the animal lovers we are, it hurts to hear statistics such as the one above. We believe in fighting for those without a voice. Animal rescue and animal cruelty awareness are two major pillars in our company's identity. Lucky for us, our dealership has a brand that is equally committed to animal rescue. Subaru of America has been a long time partner of the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). The ASPCA is the leading animal welfare organization in the North America. That's why we are proud to work with local organizations like the Boxer Rescue of Oklahoma.

The Boxer Rescue of Oklahoma is a 501(c)3 non-profit, volunteer ran organization committed to rescuing unwanted and abandoned purebred Boxers in the state of Oklahoma (and surrounding areas) and placing them in a safe, responsible, loving, and permanent home. For the past five years The Boxer Rescue of Oklahoma has held their annual Bark Walk. Ferguson Subaru has be a proud sponsor of the Bark Walk for 4 years.

The 5th Annual Bark Walk was held this past weekend! This fun-filled family fundraiser features a 1 mile walk through the beautiful Washington Irving Park in Bixby. Funds raised during the Bark Walk help save the lives of homeless animals and help promote animal welfare in your community. Every year, dozens of homeless animals are adopted during the Bark Walk as well. Shelters from across Green Country bring loving animals available for adoption.

We had a blast at this year's 2014 Bark Walk. Check out photos from the event:

Today is National Animal Advocacy Day. Help support animal rescue in Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Bixby, Jenks, Sapulpa, and the surrounding area. We encourage you to adopt your next four-legged companion. Two great animal welfare organizations Ferguson Subaru has worked with include the Boxer Rescue of Oklahoma and the Tulsa SPCA.

2015 Subaru Outback Released

Subaru claims the Outback is the world's first sport/utility wagon. It's grown to become the vehicle-of-choice for adventure-loving, trail climbing, nature-packing, outdoor enthusiast. It's been the best-selling All-Wheel Drive car in America for the past five years. And if, love is what makes a Subaru, a Subaru; then the tradition of the Subaru Outback has truly left its heart-felt mark on American drivers. But, as the famous author Pearl S. Buck wrote, "Love dies only when growth stops." Subaru has just given us more to love with release of the new-generation Outback. The '15 Subaru Outback was recently during the 2014 Subaru New York Auto Show.

The original Outback established a template for many competitive crossover models that followed, and the new-generation 2015 Outback exemplifies Subaru’s mastery of outdoors-oriented vehicle engineering and further strengthens the melding of passenger- car and SUV attributes that crossover shoppers seek.

The all-new Outback was designed from the ground-up to enable adventures and spark spontaneity. The new 2015 Subaru Outback allows drivers to go even bigger, climb even steeper, and roam even farther! Its bold new design delivers an even more compelling blend of on-road agility, off-pavement control, ride comfort, interior refinement and safety technology.

Some of the redesigned features on the new 2015 Subaru Outback include:

  • A completely redesigned, slightly larger chassis, exterior and interior design (most roomiest Outback ever)
  • More sporty, more sleek, off-road ability and look
  • A new front fascia that combines the hexagonal grille and bumper into one smooth piece
  • Hawk-eye LED head lights and tail lights
  • A thinner underbelly cladding that creates a sleeker look, but still prevents paint chipping when going off-road
  • A steeper windshield and a slimmer A-pillar to aerodynamics and increase fuel efficiency
  • An all-new, surprisingly spacious 143.6 cubic foot interior with upgraded materials for passenger comfort
  • A new retractable roof cross bars and new tie-downs that now slide back and forth, to accommodate larger and smaller items including bikes, canoes, and kayaks
  • Improved fuel economy at the top of AWD crossover class with estimated ratings of 25 mpg city / 33 mpg highway for Outback 2.5i
  • Lineartronic CVT now standard on all models
  • New available Rear Vehicle Detection System featuring Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert

Two other features worth noting on the new Subaru Outback include: enhanced capability on the Outback's legendary Subaru Standard Symmetrical All-Wheel with X-Mode, and newly enhanced Safety features with Subaru's Eyesight.

Standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive gives you exceptional traction in any environment or road condition. X-Mode with Hill Descent Control can be activated with the push of a button. It takes control of the AWD, transmission, engine, brakes, and other components to help safely navigate steep inclines and slippery surfaces to take your adventure that much further. The 2015 Outback's four-cylinder, 2.5-liter BOXER engine (or 3.6-liter, six-cylinder on the Limited model) increases power slightly from its predecessor, 175 hp vs. 173 hp as before.

The 2015 Outback offers the latest version of the EyeSight driver-assist system with an improved camera. Available for Outback Premium and Limited trim lines, EyeSight uses Subaru-developed stereo camera technology and integrates Vehicle Lane Departure Warning, Pre-Collision Braking, and Adaptive Cruise Control. Subaru's Eyesight was the highest-rated front crash prevention system by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Subaru Posts Record Breaking Sales Numbers

Last month, news broke that scientists had discovered "smoking-gun" proof that, 13.8 billion years ago, our universe was born in one massive expansion known as the Big Bang. Reminding us that our dear planet Earth, is but a tiny speck in our ever expanding universe. But even down here on our tiny rock, there's one auto company carving out an immense expansion of their own, with unbound possibilities.

Fitting, that that company is an automaker named after a cluster of stars 424 light years away from Earth! Subaru of America announced recently, in a press release, that the company reported record sales numbers for March of 2014. How impressive is Subaru's current expansion?

Subaru of America is on a run, with record breaking sales numbers. The company has had 28 consecutive months of increasing sales! Subaru of America also recorded a 21% increase in sales number from March 2013 to March 2014 (44,479 vehicles in March 2014 and 36,701 back in March of 2013)! And, SOA sold over 100,000 vehicles for the first quarter of 2014. Can you say shooting for the stars!

Strong contributors to Subaru's success have been the 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek and the 2014 Subaru Forester. The Subaru Forester is a two time winner of Motor Trend's Sport/Utility of the Year Award. Subaru recently released the new 2015 Forester. Motor Trend has also praised the XV Crosstrek saying, "Subaru feels it has hit the nail on the head with the XV Crosstrek, and we agree. It's not a sports car by any means, but it is a sporty, capable, and fun CUV that will definitely fill a void in Subaru's lineup." -- Motor Trend (2013).

In 1953 during the birth of Subaru, the first president of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd., Kenji Kita, was quoted as saying, "If you're going to build a car, build a full-fledged car." It appears Subaru is continuing to deliver on this promise over 61 years later. Subaru of America's current president and chief operating officer, Thomas J. Doll expressed his feelings about the company's growth saying, “We are delighted to have once again delivered record results. 2014 looks already set to be our seventh year of consecutive sales growth, with more new product to come.”

If you haven't test drove a Subaru yet, why not? There's a reason American drivers are flocking to these vehicles. And, there's even more optimism and excitement on the way, as Subaru prepares the release of the all-new 2015 Subaru Legacy sedan - arriving this summer.
